Mercedes-Benz and the wind
Mercedes-Benz has been fighting the wind since inventing the car in 1886. That battle has transformed into a positive partnership now that Mercedes-Benz and the wind have joined forces – their owned factories worldwide will obtain electricity only from renewable sources by 2022. The idea was to send a clear but clean and sustainable message to the world to announce this move.
The visual concept was to bring the Mercedes-Benz brand logo and the ultimate symbol of sustainable energy – a wind turbine – together on an epic 120m by 70m scale. By exploiting the fact that the turbine blades and the Mercedes-Benz star are remarkably similar, we used lights and eco-friendly smoke to transform a huge wind turbine into a Mercedes-Benz logo in a dazzling brand installation visible for miles around. A beautiful and filmic homage to the wind and our age-old battle with this incredible force of nature builds up to this iconic climax.
This was the first Mercedes-Benz brand campaign ever, that got activated by all of their markets.
